| Kata is an ancient way martan-em taught to better one's
performance using a technique that could be best explained
as 'pre-practizing the muscle memory'. With continuous and
devoted repeating of certain series of movements, one will
succeed better in the situations to come. Doing kata is
always worth its while. Martan-em said that doing kata
a hundred times gives you a basic understanding of what
the kata wants to teach you. One thousand times makes you
see your enemies. One hundred thousand times, and it
becomes a part of one's spirit, and one knows how to
perform right techniques at the right moment, flowing
subconsciously from one's hara and empowered with Ki.
